The cover of Tracy Lawrence’s new Christmas album Frozen in Time features the “Time Marches On” hitmaker bundled up in a winter coat, with snow falling behind him. It was taken in July.

In a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, Lawrence reveals that the cover shoot for his winter album was actually hot as heck!

“We shot that in July,” Lawrence tells ToC Nights’ Sam Alex. “That was all computer generated — the snow, all of it.”

While it looks like it was shot in the mountains of Colorado, it was actually shot in Brentwood, Tennessee, a Nashville suburb that stays very hot and snow-free in the summer. “The clothes were hot because it was like 97 degrees or something like that outside that day,” Lawrence recalls. “We were burning up!”

Chances are that Lawrence and his family will be able to experience some true winter weather when they head off on an upcoming holiday vacation to New York City.

“One of our Christmas traditions that we had here for many years was that we would always take the kids to see the Rockettes when they were growing up,” Lawrence recalls. “They were at the Opry House for years, so we are going to see the Rockettes at the Radio City Music Hall.”

While in the Big Apple, the family will also enjoy some more shows and a lot of shopping.

“Oh, there will be a budget,” says the husband and father with a laugh. “It’s going to be really fun.”

All in all, Lawrence will enjoy a nearly six-week break from the road before touring resumes on Jan. 25.
